7 Tips to Getting Your Body Ready for The Beach this Summer

If you’re going to be on the Sunshine Coast this summer no doubt you’ll be planning to spend a lot of time on the beach. Unfortunately, it is this time of year that a lot of us begin to realise just how much winter bulk we’ve accumulated over the colder months.

Here is a quick 12 tips to get you back to looking good in time for summer.

1. Drink More Water

Some people will say drinking lots of water will make you bloated but that is a myth. In fact the reverse is true, when you become dehydrated your body will retain water beneath the skins surface which results in a puffy look.

If you want to look good for a day at the beach cut out coffee and alcohol 3 days before the date and start drinking 7-8 glasses of water a day. It will help you look slimmer and more toned as it will eliminate unnecessary puffiness.


  1. When you work out do moves in Slow-Mo

When you want your butt to look not just strong but defined as  ywant to be holding moves for between 45-60 seconds. Experts say this is because 10 quick reps is not enough time to ‘sculpt’ muscles. You need more time so you can maximise calorie burn.


  1. Get rid of carbs

Pasta, pizza and bread is delicious but if you try to cut out carbs for summer it can really make a difference for you beach body.

When your body isn’t using carbs for energy then it will use fat so switching to a high protien diet will make a huge difference to the way you look. You will probably feel hungry more often but it is OK to break up what you eat into a larger number of micro meals to get through the day.

Just don’t put carbs in them.


  1. Go Climbing

Sound random?

Well, I bet you didn’t know that climbing uses every major muscle group at the same time. When this is all happening simultaneously raises your body’s demand for oxygen and burns more calories which means it is is highly effective to help you shed fat.


  1. Sleep More!

When you get at least six to eight hours sleep a night you can speed up your metabolism and get you body working harder to get you beach ready.

Sleep is when your body does the most work on restoring itself, so it getting your full allotment of shut eye is crucial to getting your body working at its optimum level.


  1. The Caterpillar walk

This will effectively target your upper body

Stand with your feet together. Bend and put your to floor, then slowly them forward into the push-up. Make sure your hands are in line with your shoulders and do a push up. Then walk your feet forward until they are where your hands are. Stand up and repeat 10 times.


  1. Change up your Workout routine

Just a slight change in your workout routine will do a lot of good.

You can get used to something that used to be challenging very quickly so it is important to add a bit of weight or go a bit further as often as possible to ensure you are always moving forward.
